It’s no secret that some real estate brokers cold call landlords and offer them to list their properties for sale or for rent.

We understand how cold calling is frustrating for you as a landlord, especially that you have a lot on your plate and are busy with your life.

Sometimes landlords don’t share their contact details with real estate agents because they know that their contact information might be shared with other agents and they will have to deal with cold calls forever.

Cold calls can be very annoying. It is frustrating for us as a real estate agent when we get notifications from our clients regarding this matter, let alone how landlords feel about it. 

That’s why we want to sahre some ideas that might help with this issue.

1- The new arrangement made by the telecomuncation regaltory makes it easier to identify callers by displaying the company name when you receive a call. You can either reject the call or block it if you identify the number as a cold caller.

2- When you get a cold call from a broker, ask how they got your number. Then ask if they are aware of the government’s rules against cold calls, and tell them you will file a complaint with RERA department if they call again.

3- If they still call you, file a complaint with DLD through their website at www.dubailand.gov.ae or through Dubai Rest mobile app and don’t feel guilty about it because you did your part by warning them previously. 

It’s understandable that brokers are only trying to do business and achieve their target. And it is true that there is a some kind of pressure on them to find sellers and buyers, otherwise they can’t do business. However, they are expected to comply with both the law and business ethics.

This is the reason we don’t cold call and we have never done it, even before the RERA department declared it illegal. If you did not explicitly ask us to call your number, we will never do so.
